I've spent most of my life in northeast Pennsylvania. Throughout my life, I've donned many hats. I have been a wife, mother, caretaker, home educator, secretary, and to satisfy my wanderlust in my younger years, I became an exchange student and a carny.
Today, I live on a farm where my better half raises grass fed beef on our li’l patch of heaven. Our sweet and sassy daughter joins us there, along with Tigger and Diego, her feline brothers. As my daughter skipped off to college last year, I finally took the time to pursue my dreams of becoming an author.
Reading and writing have always been my favorite past time. Journaling and creating new worlds is incredibly therapeutic for me. At times, I don’t have a choice; I need to get what’s in my head on paper, so it stops distracting me.
My inspiration comes from many places. I love history, anything paranormal and finding new places to explore. Old buildings and forts are the perfect place to envision a scene or a new series. I fell in love with Boldt Castle over a decade ago, and it is still one of my favorite places to visit. The history of its construction and the tragic halt to the creation of this magnificent building tugged at me for a long time, begging to be the background for a series.
I'm a dreamer in many senses of the word. Sleep is my own private movie theater where I have technicolor dreams that I usually remember. In my waking hours, I daydream trying to continue scenes I’ve awoken from. Many of my chapters start with a snippit from my night visions. As I write, I often feel like I’m getting a download. I not only imagine the scenes in minute detail, but I hear the voices clearly in my head. Dialects and tones are audible to me, as are characters who argue with me over their names, or the direction I think they are going.
My perfect day is spent in a comfy chair with a book I can’t put down. A cup of hot tea heavily laced with cream is always on standby. One of my demon kitties usually perches at my side, or on my book.
Heart Island is my first series, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it. I'm looking forward to many more books in this series!
